| The Inkhezi Class Battleship was first commissioned during the Great War with the Iconians some 200,000 years ago. Designed primarily for combat, it was a fearsome force on the battlefield, and performed well against the Iconians. Nevertheless, the Inkhezi alone was not enough to prevent defeat, and the Elorg were banished into subspace. At that point, many of the Inkhezis were upgraded to include enhanced science and diplomatic capabilities, as well as living quarters for thousands of individuals. The vessels summarily endured for thousands of years in the harsh conditions of subspace, but when they were finally freed in 2395, they had no trouble fending off Federation forces. Indeed, after thousands of years, the Inkhezi Class starship was still a formidable force on the battlefield. However, as the war against the Federation progressed, the Inkhezi Class did begin to show its age. Constant use began to place the ships under a great deal of stress, while their sheer size made maneuverability impossible amidst heated combat. Ultimately, the vast majority of the Inkhezi Class vessels were destroyed, despite their superior firepower. When the war ended in 2397, all remaining Inkhezi Class vessels were scuttled by Federation forces. In late 2398, a small number of Inkhezi Class starships were commissioned, however they were quickly phased out of service by the newer Andrinel Class warships. |
