NOTES |
Commonly referred to as the Valdore Class, the Norexan Class was developed by the Romulan Star Empire during the 2370's in response to the Dominion threat. Though powerful, the D'deridex Class did not fare well during the conflict, and the Romulans soon had need for a powerful, highly maneuverable replacement. Smaller and more moderately armed when compared to the D'deridex, the Norexan is nonetheless a formidable presence on the battlefield. Highly maneuverable and incredibly fast, the Norexan can easily outflank even the most lethal opponents. During peacetime, the Norexan is also better suited to handle scientific and exploratory missions. It is believed many vessels built during the late 2390's possess temporal technology. The first of the Norexans, including the Valdore, appeared in 2378, shortly after the coup that placed Shinzon in power. In 2398, the Valdore briefly served as Praetor Tomalak's flagship, and the class played a considerable role in the conflict with the Federation later that year. |
