Alan Christopher was born April 29, 2357 in New Caberlan City on Ka’Tula Prime.  His mother, Riana, was a botanist and his father, Ti’Yenn
served as an ambassador to the Federation  (“Laws and Orders”).  Alan’s older sister Drayan was—in his early life—little more than a pain in
the neck, often forcing him to play with dolls and other girly things (“Balance of Power”).  The Christopher residence in New Caberlan
City was very near the Farhelian Mountain Range.  The entire region was littered with ancient Ka’Tulan ruins, and as a result, young Alan
Christopher was frequently exposed to archaeology and paleontology.  As the years passed, his affinity for the field grew, and eventually
coalesced into a working relationship with renowned archaeologist Andrew Hartman, and his young niece, Sarah Hartman (“Prime
Directive”).
Against his parents’ wishes, Christopher entered Starfleet Academy in September 2376.  Hoping to appease his parents in some small
fashion, Christopher initially sought to study archaeology—but he tended to consider the field little more than a hobby, and subsequently
found his studies less than satisfying.  Additionally, one Cadet Adam Rostolev took it upon himself to torment young Christopher at every
opportunity, making Christopher’s experience at the Academy a miserable one.  At one point, he considered leaving the Academy, but a
chance encounter with groundskeeper Boothby brought Christopher into his element.  He would later shed his inhibitions and transfer to
command (“Gaiden”).  During his sophomore year at the Academy, Christopher was assigned to the Starship Victory for field training
(“Kalidar Rising”).  His tenure at Starfleet Academy came to an end in June 2380.  Christopher graduated 57th in his class.  His first
assignment was aboard the USS Titan under the command of Captain William Riker (“Lost Worlds”).

Aboard the Titan, Ensign Christopher served as helmsman during the night shift.  Though he performed his duties well, Christopher quickly
earned a reputation as an immature and occasionally reckless young individual, a character trait that frequently brought him into conflict
with Captain Riker (“Lost Worlds”).  The trend continued into the Romulan War in the early 2380’s.  Christopher put himself at risk on
numerous occasions, most notably when the Romulans boarded the ship during the Battle of Naxos Minor (“The Oracle of Ages”).
Starfleet Command deemed his actions heroic and Christopher was subsequently promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.  Christopher would
later serve aboard the starships Charleston and Johannesburg before attaining command of the Borodin Class USS Discovery in 2392.

Though an able Captain, Christopher’s cool demeanor did not sit well with the Discovery’s first officer, Leah Mendoza.  While patrolling
the Romulan Neutral Zone on stardate 70647, Christopher and Mendoza clashed over the discovery of a potentially dangerous interspatial
flexure inside Romulan territory; while Christopher was eager to further explore—and possibly destroy—the phenomenon, Mendoza
insisted the Discovery retreat.  The difference in opinion led Mendoza to question Christopher’s ability to command the Discovery, and
ended in a mutiny that saw Christopher flee the ship.  Along with two of his closest allies, Christopher took the experimental shuttlecraft
Dark Star into the Romulan Neutral Zone and proceeded to seal the interspatial anomaly (“In Pursuit of Justice”).

In 2394, not long after sealing the anomaly, the Dark Star had a brief, but bloody encounter with the Borg.  The incident left the Dark
Star heavily damaged, and resulted in the assimilation of Jason Ramsey, one of Christopher’s associates.  Still a considerable distance from
Federation space, Christopher and Rachael Meyer had no choice but to limp back toward Federation territory as wanted criminals (“In
Pursuit of Justice”).

Less than a year later, in early 2395, the anomaly that prompted Christopher’s fall from grace reappeared in the Kilka Sector.  Now under
Federation control, the region had stabilized, but the appearance of several large alien vessels at the mouth of the flexure threatened to
end that stability.  Christopher and Meyer had no choice but to investigate the situation.  When they finally arrived, the pair came upon
a heavily damaged USS Starlight.  The vessel was in a state of utter disarray; their Captain had been killed and the remaining crew was
dazed and confused by their encounter with the malevolent Elorg Bloc.  Christopher was able to restore order to the ship and
subsequently led the crew into battle against their newfound nemesis (“Beginnings”).

Once the Elorg situation was resolved, the Starlight’s operations officer, Commander Erin Keller, alerted Starfleet Command to
Christopher’s presence aboard the Starlight.  Both Christopher and Meyer were subsequently brought before a military tribunal on Earth
and were found guilty on several charges.  However, Starfleet ultimately agreed with Christopher’s assessment of the situation that
brought upon the mutiny on the Discovery, and thusly negated punishment for his actions.  He was given command of the Starlight and
ordered to establish a presence in the Kilka Sector to fight the growing Elorg threat (“In Pursuit of Justice”).

Much of Alan Christopher’s time aboard the Starlight was spent fighting the Elorg.  The first major offensive came on stardate 72335.7,
when the Elorg attempted to expand their perimeter defenses.  While the Elorg were again defeated, Starfleet took heavy losses (“In the
Line of Fire, part I”).  In the months and years that followed, Captain Christopher worked diligently to bolster Starfleet’s defenses in the
Kilka Sector.  This included the assignment of nearly 700 starships to the region in mid-2396 (“Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec”), and the
creation of alliances with nearby empires, including the Rutanians, Romulans, and Klingons.  When the Elorg commenced a full-scale
invasion of the Federation in early 2397, Starfleet was able to provide considerable resistance.

Captain Christopher is also credited with making first contact with the Velora Aggregate in 2396 (“Velora”), and smoothing over relations
with the Romulan Star Empire after a brief conflict in 2398 (“The Fields of Asphodel”).  Christopher’s continued diplomatic overtures to
the Romulan Praetor Tomalak ultimately coalesced into a friendship that substantially strengthened the ties between the Federation and
the Romulans.  Under Christopher’s command, the Starlight also played a pivotal role in the Drusari Conflict of 2398.  When the Starlight
was inadvertently transported to the Zukara Segment, Christopher forged numerous alliances with the region’s myriad denizens to fend
off the pending Drusari attack (“The Odyssey”).

The Starlight also made numerous scientific discoveries during Christopher’s tenure as commanding officer.  His continued interest in
archaeology brought about the discovery of an Elorg base on Ka’Tula Prime, a large Phobian starbase in the Alpha Surias System, and two
previously unknown Iconian bases, one on Ciden II and another on the desert world Dimovius.  Christopher also encouraged his crew to
undertake projects of their own, a policy that resulted in considerable advancements in the field of temporal science.
