NOTES |
The Eximius-class was developed in the late 2390's in response to the Elorg threat, and is one of the few vessels in Starfleet devoted entirely to short-range tactical missions. First deployed in late 2399, the Eximius sacrifices both speed and science in favor of brute force. Equipped with an impressive 10 phaser arrays, 6 phaser pulse canons, and 4 transphasic torpedo tubes, the vessel is easily one of the most heavily armed in the Federation fleet. The Eximius is also one of the most heavily shielded Federation starships, much moreso than even than the Akira class. This heavy fortification, however, was not without cost. The Eximius class is one of the slowest ships in the fleet. It possesses few science labs and nominal diplomatic capabilities. The Eximius-class was first put to the test on stardate 76728, when the Federation fleet attacked Eredas-Il in the Rebena System. |
