The Elorg Bloc is an ancient and powerful coalition of Elorg colonies that was founded by the Prophet Na’
zar in the year 200,311 BCE. The Elorg rapidly expanded their empire in the years that followed, and
ultimately became involved in a large scale conflict with the Iconian Confederation that resulted in the
eventual annihilation of both empires. While the Iconians were doomed to extinction, the Elorg survived in
a subspace prison and, millennia later, fought to restore the Bloc to power in a protracted war with the
United Federation of Planets. (“Shadows of an Empire” [TFF]).

The Elorg are a highly resilient species with reptilian origins that can be traced back to Eredas, their
native homeworld. The Elorg have brief gestation periods that last only two or three months. At that
point, the female produces an egg that is incubated externally for the remainder of fetus’ development.
(“Rebena Te Ra” [TFF]). In rare instances, the fetus suffers a genetic reversion before it hatches,
resulting in an incubus. These aberrations are not considered sentient, and are generally used as canon
fodder during times of war. (“Beginnings” [TFF]). The Elorg have a viscous black blood (“Silent Adversary”
[TFF]), and have life spans that commonly exceed 300 years. (“Shadows of an Empire” [TFF]). Adults are
generally humanoid, hairless, with ashen white skin and blazing orange eyes. (“Beginnings” [TFF]). The
Breen, a closely related variation of the Elorg genome, are nearly identical to the standard genome,
however variations with skin and eye color have occurred—typical features include gray skin and red
eyes. (“Kalidar Rising” [TFF]). Accounts from the Tome of Na’zar indicate that all Elorg once possessed
telepathic abilities, however the skill was lost even before the time of Na’zar. (“The Joining” [TFF]).

The Elorg have a highly structured culture based upon the teachings of the Prophet Na’zar. Much of
this culture is chronicled in the Tome of Na’zar, an expansive text written by the Prophet over the span
of several centuries. The text stresses the importance of procedure and protocol, but simultaneously
advocates exploration—both physical and spiritual. Most Elorg worshiped the chi-goehs, a practice that
predated the Elorg Bloc by several centuries. The chi-goehs were considered sacred echoes of the
dead, who spoke to the faithful—often in dreams—and gave messages of guidance and clarity. Because of
the protracted conflict with the Iconians in the Bloc’s infancy, the Elorg also became a highly militaristic
culture; when the chi-goehs failed to guide the Elorg toward victory during that war, many turned
elsewhere for spiritual guidance—namely the Elorg leader, the Cerebrate, who was eventually extolled as

In the final hours of the war with the Iconians, most of the Elorg civilization was sealed into a subspace
cavity by the Iconians. (“Beginnings” [TFF]). This caused a dramatic shift in the cultural foundations of
the Elorg Bloc. During this time, the Elorg officially abandoned the chi-goehs, and with exploration—one
of Na’zar’s fundamental beliefs—no longer possible, the denizens of the Elorg Bloc scoured the Tome of
Na’zar for anything of relevance. Culture began to stagnate as the Bloc clung to ancient procedures
and protocols. (“Between Dark Places” [TFF], “Shadows of an Empire” [TFF]). In order to combat this
stagnation, the Cerebrate Zraa’tul introduced the Tribute, a sacred holiday during which the Elorg
celebrate the divinity of the Cerebrate. During the Tribute, gifts are proffered to the Cerebrate as a
show of respect and admiration. (“Ground Zero” [TFF]). Unfortunately, the continued militarization of
the Bloc eventually transformed the offerings from a sacred holiday into a requisite tithe; failure to
honor the Cerebrate was punishable by death. (“Requiem” [TFF]). Within a few thousand years, the
Elorg Bloc transformed into a highly secretive, deceptive people without a cultural identity. It was rife
with political treachery and literally rotting from the inside out. As a result, many within the Bloc
campaigned for a return to the old ways—including the return of the chi-goehs. The notion, however,
did not sit well with the divine Cerebrate, and anyone who attempted to worship the chi-goehs was
eliminated. In the year 2314, hundreds were killed in the Dii’nysyr Incident, when the crew of the
renegade warship Dii’nysyr attempted to spread word of the chi-goehs. (“Toccata and Fugue” [TFF]).
Following the Dii’nysyr Incident, many came to question the validity of the Cerebrate’s assertions of
divinity. The Cerebrate and the Conclave of Overseers argued that since both positions were created by
the Prophet Na’zar, they were a part of the Elorg’s religious heritage by default. This gave birth to the
Elorg Resistance. Members of the Resistance were advocates of sweeping cultural changes within the
Elorg Bloc, something that was seemingly forbidden by the Tome of Na’zar; they were thusly branded
heretics and executed when discovered. This was a conflict unlike anything the Elorg Bloc had faced

corrupted Conclave of Overseers. (“Destinies of Flame and Sorrow” [TFF]). In early 2401, in the aftermath of the devastating war with the Federation, much of the Elorg Bloc was
in shambles. It was then that Talyere Rosat became Cerebrate, officially bringing about a cultural renaissance to the Elorg. (“Where Angels Fear to Tread” [TFF]).
